Leaving Salento, a 3 hour bus ride lands me in Cali, Colombia. I´m getting an insider view of Cali thanks to the help and hospitality of sisters Stepha and Keyla, native Caleñas. The city is hot and bustling, and reminds me a bit of Los Angeles, CA. True to reputation, Cali has some of Colombias most beautiful people. It probably helps that everyone and their mother is back in town for Christmas. On that note, there is an excitement all around in anticipation of the Feria of Cali, a celebration of holiday and salsa. Unfortunately I will miss the Feria. I´m heading to Guayaquil, Ecuador to be with family for Christmas.
So, if you aren´t aware, Cali has a long time love affair with salsa and it shows. There are songs dedicated to this city, and the city dedicated to them. The main Avenida boasts 3 to 4 places to dance salsa, from a simple bar with a dance floor, to discotecas.
But now..... to dance!!
