From coffee tree to cup.

My hostel in Salento, Plantation House, is part of a legit coffee plantation. Today I got a tour of it. They explained the different kinds of coffee beans, and how they've organically grown coffee for 80 years. The plantation uses a natural eco-system to make it difficult for coffee pests to get from plant to plant. They also take advantage of the other plants roots to prevent eroding and of their dead leaves to create compost all around the trees. Other things we learned were how they shell, rinse, dry, roast and grind coffee. It was awesome to see it go from fresh beans to delicious coffee! And i found some great clay on the trail back, and sculpted it into a bust!
